From Bondage to Liberty

In liberty's embrace, Christ's grace we savor,

But first, sin's chains, a heavy burden we labor.

Our wrists, by iniquity's fetters, must smart,

As the law's lash leaves on our backs its mark.

Bound by the taskmaster, the law's stern decree,

It drives us toward Jesus, our only decree.

True freedom's birthed from bondage's hold,

As Israel cried to God in tales of old.

Brick-kilns and pots, our weary toil's keep,

Before we soar like doves from bondage's deep.

Through mire and darkness, we must tread,

To know the heights from which we've fled.

In the pit's abyss, we cry, no foothold to find,

Yet, in God's mercy, our souls are refined.

Jonah's depths, we must descend with dread,

Before we're delivered from sin's dark thread.

To the mountain's base, we sink in despair,

Weeds wrap our heads, as we wrestle with care.

Earth's bars seem eternal, our fears grow vast,

Till God's hand frees us from sins of the past.

From Egypt's grip, a picture divine and grand,

Of God's people, saved by His mighty hand.

Delivered from law's chains and sin's cruel strife,

In Christ, we find true liberty and life.
